Notes: Solidly constructed of heavy gauge this sterling silver Fiddle pattern stilton cheese scoop exhibits a curved spade form blade and ergonomic S-curved handle. Thomas Wallis & Jonathan Hayne, both well known London silversmiths, partnered in 1810 and became known for their quality flatware.
Markings: Fully hallmarked: “TW/JH” Thomas Wallis & Jonathan Hayne Makers Marks, Lion Passant Purity Mark, 1811 “Q” date code, Right facing head of George III
Condition: Very Good Antique Condition – no damage, no repair with very little age and use wear, only what is expected on such an item. The finial bares a fine crest of a stork/heron/crane rising, beaked, with wings displayed and elevated. It has not been cleaned and is offered as found to preserve the patina for future generations and the buyer’s personal preferences. Of good gauge this scoop is built to provide a smooth efficient and ergonomic feel.
