Description: A novel sterling silver flip-out cigarette case designed to impress, by H Matthews, Birmingham, 1903. The smooth body has a gilt interior and while appearing stylish but plain at first sight it packs a punch – holding the case with one hand the hinged lid can be pulled back with thumb to reveal a spring loaded mechanism that flips the front of the case outwards towards another person (or one’s other hand), offering a cigarette with flair.
Condition: Antique, Excellent
For Accuracy: an antique item it may show expected light signs of age. There are two very slight tears at the corners of the lid where it hinges over-top of the front piece. This in no way detracts from the presentation or function. There is some light wear to the gilt washed interior. There are no monograms, both are clean and the hinges, springs, clips, and clasps in working order. It is an unusual and fun item.
