Info: A vintage Mexican modernist brooch in sterling silver designed by Sigredo Pineda at Sigi. The fluttering delta form, as if a ribbon has been caught by a forward moving sphere, has been intentionally oxidized by Sigi to emphasize the depth of the internal fold and a small sphere has been placed at the point emphasizing the forward motion.
Markings: impressed with Taxco marks, Sigi, Sterling Mark, ‘52’

The brooch has been left unpolished and as found for the buyers personal preference. Note that the dark internal ribbon has been intentionally oxidized by Sigi for effect and should not be polished.
Artist Biography: Sigredo Pineda was born in Taxco in 1929. At the age of ten he began his apprenticeship in a small Taxco filigree silver workshop and throughout his teens he travelled Mexico working in various silver workshops acquiring skills and experience. He spent three years working silver with Los Castillo and four years working with silver and enamel for Margot van Voorhies Carr at Margot de Taxco. While here he perfected the Margot enamelling process and became manager of the Margot workshops. In 1952, at the age of 23, he set up an independent workshop to create his own modernist designs quickly establishing himself as one of the leaders in Modernist Mexican jewellery design.
