Description: British Aesthetic style ‘Blush Ivory’ vase decorated with “asymmetrical and scattered” hand-enameled “art sprays” of large red, pink and yellow roses among forget-me-nots, pansies marguerites, leaves and ferns, embellished along with the borders, in 22 carat gold, made by Royal Worcester, mould form number 991, registration number 957, circa 1894. The Japanese inspired form has a domed body with a sharp retracted waste, paneled stylized bamboo neck, all supported on a short integral columnar foot. Made of a parian porcelain body the decorating process was elaborate involving a total of five firings to build up the glazes and decoration to a finished state. The interior is glazed with a matt ivory , the exterior with a matt butter then further blushed with a matt apricot glaze before being painted with the flowers then gilt and burnished.
