Weller Pottery (American, 1851-1948)
‘Experimental Silvertone’ Double Handled Vase
American Arts & Crafts, Mottled Matt Green Glaze
7 ⅝” high x 7 ¼” wide (at handles)
Weller ‘Experimental Silvertone’ double handled daisy vase with textured ground and an Arts & Crafts Coppertone type / Matt Green glaze.
This glaze is considered experimental and can be found on Silvertone blanks; it combines the rich green glaze of the Matt Green line with the mottled effects found in the Coppertone line to create an added depth to the embossed and textured Silvertone decoration. This example has strong tonal differences with strategic glaze thinning to bring through the muted yellow clay for added highlights.
