Summary: Art Deco / Modernist Georg Jensen sterling silver sugar nips (tongs), the 1930’s mechanical design consists of two opposing discs that when compressed enable a scissor action to close on a cube of sugar. This design is rare as it does not have the usual stylized designs that Jensen is noted for but a more novel machine like appearance and scissor action. It is struck with the more desirable early hallmarks, used from 1933-1944, and the London date code “C” for 1938. This dates these tongs as having been produced near to their original design date.
