Description: Six fine A. J. Casson (Canadian, 1898-1992) ‘Wild Flower’ series silkscreens on wood veneer, Canadian School, circa 1930s. Represented are (clockwise): Yellow Globe Flowers, Blue Bearded Iris, Lady Slippers, Yellow Lilies, an unidentified Yellow flower, White Hepatica, White Clover, and Blue Bells. These images were intended to showcase the emerging Canadian National aesthetic and native wildlife across the Country, c. 1940s.
Markings: all but two signed in the silkscreen “A. J. C”

Artist Biography: Alfred Joseph Casson ‘A J Casson’ (Canada, 1898-1992) OC, RCA. Member of the Group of Seven, Canadian Group of Artists, and The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto, founding member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, National Academy of Design. Worked at Sampson Matthews Ltd and Ontario College of Art. Casson is one of Canada’s most celebrated artists.
