Early American Art Pottery vase decorated with a particularly attractive blue Dickensware II bust length, three-quarter view, portrait of Don Quixote, executed by top artist Charles Chilcote, for Weller Art Pottery, signed by Chilcote on the side and appropriately marked with the Weller Dickens Ware impressions and reference marks on base, c. 1900.
The extremely tall ovoid-baluster form vase is potted of a heavy creamy-yellow clay with the incised portrait displayed prominently on one side in front of a blue and white gradient Eocean like ground.
Dimensions: 14 3/8” high x 6 ¼” diameter
Condition: It is in Excellent Vintage Condition; there is a three inch firing crack on the bottom extends to the interior this occurred during manufacture and is not damage, there are no other chips, cracks or repairs. It is clean with crisp hand-incised and painted decoration with a refined form and Ready for Display.
